Viburnum

Viburnum
Viburnum, previously known as American cranberrybush, is a versatile, four-season shrub that offers visual interest in its white spring blooms, fall foliage and fruit. In spring, the flowers typically appear in clusters of tiny white blooms, sometimes in lacecap form. The flowers give way to edible berries in late summer to fall which attract wildlife. It can be used in landscaping as a privacy screen, hedge, or ground cover. Viburnum is generally easy to grow, low maintenance, and comes in a variety of cultivars that feature different leaf and flower types. This native plant prefers slightly moist, well-drained soil and does best in full sun to partial shade conditions. Although this plant is self-fertile and will produce berries without a pollinator, planting a second variety of viburnum will improve its health and fruit yield.
