Lilac (syringa)

Fragrant, flowering, deciduous shrub.

Meyer or Korean Lilac
A dwarf, spreading lilac with reddish purple buds that open to fragrant, pale lilac flowers. Blooms profusely in midseason, typically mid-May, and first flowers at an early age. Use in shrub borders with an evergreen background or plant in groups to form a low hedge Moderate growing; reaches 4 to 6 ft. tall, 5 to 7 ft. wide.

Chinese Tree Lilac

FOLIAGE: Dark green
FLOWERS: creamy white, fragrant, early to mid-June, slightly acid, full sun for best flowering; pruning after flowering prefer cool summers.

​Common Lilac
An old-fashioned, long-lived, and well-loved lilac best known for its fragrant flowers. It is extremely hardy and thrives with little care which make it a lovely shrub for a specimen planting, in masses, screens, hedges, or mixed in shrub borders.  The May blooming flowers are typically purple to lilac but cultivars also come in magenta, pink and white.
