Privet, Latin name ligustrum, is a large, dense, durable shrub commonly used for hedging or screening in landscaping. In spring, small panicles of tiny white florets emerge and are followed by round, shiny black berries. Its small, ovular leaves turn attractive shades of red in fall. It is generally deciduous but may be semi-evergreen in warmer climates.
