Sugar Maples, Latin name acer saccharum, are deciduous trees which typically grow 40' to 80' tall or more and feature a dense, rounded crown. These trees are staple contributors to the fall colors known to the Eastern United States. Their green leaves turn vibrant shades of yellow and orange in autumn and may vary considerably on a single tree. Sugar maples are slow-growing and long-lived trees, which also make excellent shade trees.
