Ninebark

Physocarpus opulifolius
Common ninebark, Latin name physocarpus opulifolius, is an ornamental shrub prized for its colorful foliage that lasts from spring to fall. With its unique, exfoliating bark that peels in strips to reveal layers of reddish to light brown inner bark, this plant is a four season show-stopper. Its maple-like, lobed, serrated leaves range in colors from shades of bright orange to red, purple, and green. Ninebark's additional visual appeal lies in the small clusters of white flowers that bloom in spring and bear red seed capsules attractive to wildlife later in the season. While ninebark tolerates partial shade, it should be planted in full sun for its leaves to show their best colors. As an added bonus, this plant is easy to maintain, hardy, and a fast grower.
Please contact the nursery for availability each season.
