Upright Japanese Maples, Latin name acer palmatum, are deciduous shrubs or small trees that typically grow to 10-25' tall. They are native to Japan, Korea and China. This plant is generally rounded to broad in form, often with low branching. Its palmate red or green leaves are multi-pointed, toothed lobes. Japanese maples are prized for their fall colors, including: shades of yellow, red-violet, and bronze. Cultivars (often grafted) are quite variable.
