Dogwood - Shrub

Cornus
Dogwood shrubs are loose, rapid-spreading, multi-stemmed shrubs that grow 6-12 ft. tall, typically with conspicuous red twigs. Dense, flat-topped clusters of creamy-white blossoms are followed by umbrella-shaped clusters of pea-sized berries. Its autumn foliage is colorful. The bright-colored branches add visual interest to winter landscapes and are a great addition to flower arrangements. These shrubs are native to Northern America and often grow in low woods, along streams and borders of swamps where the soil is moist. Dogwood shrubs are suckering, so they are best suited to bordering as they spread vigorously.
