Kousa Dogwood

Cornus kousa
The Kousa dogwood, Latin name cornus kousa, is a species of native flowering trees from Asia. These single or multi-stemmed trees feature a long-lasting, showy, white or pink late spring to early summer blooms. Unlike cornus florida dogwoods, these deciduous trees will flower after their spring foliage has emerged. Following the bloom period are strawberry or cherry-like berries, which attract wildlife and are edible to humans when fully ripened. Dogwood trees typically have short trunks and crowns of spreading or nearly horizontal branches.  Their ornamental appeal makes dogwoods a popular deciduous tree choice for any landscape.
