Bamboo, Latin name bambusa, is the largest member of the grass family Poaceae and most of them are evergreen. Many varieties are invasive and quickly overtake the areas where they grow, but there are also non-invasive varieties. Clumping bamboo is one such variety that is popular for use in gardening and landscaping either as a screen or for ornamental appeal. Their growth pattern is more compact and easier to maintain and they grow best in moist, well-drained soils.
